Be a part of history: Donate to the Andrew Bucci film project

Andrew Bucci (1922-2014) was one of Mississippi’s most celebrated and prolific visual artists. In honor of his creative legacy, the Bucci estate has partnered with Reel Plan, LLC, to produce a first-of-its-kind documentary exploring his life and work: “Looking for Felicity: The Artistic Life of Andrew Bucci.”

…The film highlights how Andrew Bucci influenced, and was influenced by, the various artistic cohorts of which he was a vibrant member, in both his native Mississippi and his adopted home in Washington, DC… The film features intimate interviews of family, collectors, and art experts who understand the exuberant and expansive vision of the world that is the throughline in Bucci’s work. Through the use of animated sequences, viewers understand the evolution of Bucci’s approach to color and brushwork, to landscapes, and to the human form, and gain a clear vision of Bucci as an introspective artist who centered his life around producing new work.

The film will be directed by Kerri Sheehan and produced by Reel Plan, LLC. Their previous projects include Jacob Kainen: The Last Expression and Alma Thomas: A Life in Color.

Making the film a reality will require a significant fundraising effort. The Bucci estate has launched a fundraiser with the nonprofit Women in Film & Video DC that provides donors a variety of benefits based on their contribution levels. Donations are tax-deductible and will help bring Bucci’s captivating story to life on screens across Mississippi and beyond.
